Dental implants are an alternative to bridges or dentures to replace missing teeth. Implants are permanent, plus they can also prevent the bone loss that can result when a tooth is lost. Implant-supported restorations include crowns, bridges, and dentures.

How implants work
An implant is a simple device that looks like a common wood screw. They are surgically placed into your jawbone at the site of the missing tooth, or in the case of an implant-supported denture, at points on your jawbone to provide support for a denture. The implant is made from titanium, which forms a natural permanent bond with bone. Once the implant is placed and has healed, this bond becomes very strong and holds the implant in place. The bond also helps strengthen and regenerate the surrounding bone, preventing bone loss.
For single missing teeth we attach a dental crown to the implant. For multiple missing teeth we may place an implant-supported bridge or denture.
